Advent Calendar 2023 Day 3: Southern, Christmas Day 1977 & 1978

We've featured this day, this very fine company and indeed the very end of this clip with Bill Flynn's austerity decorating before on the Calendar back in 2017 but there's plenty to admire from the break and full junction into the never loved Just William, by which we mean a full two minutes of brass band cosiness in service to the Co-Op - long-time readers may remember they tried something similar with St Winifred's School Choir a couple of years later - that someone gets so bored with they put a preview still for a completely different programme up halfway through. Moving forward a year and Adrian Edwards' parlour looks positively palatial even though it's clearly just a corner of the tiniest studio as he introduces a pre-Morecambe & Wise break - Eric and Ern's first at Thames, of course - by undermining them with a full ninety second Two Ronnies advert for the Austin Morris, not to mention an invitation to put out your empties.
