Advent Calendar 2023 Day 2: yet another dose of 80s adverts

We continue the great tradition of posting Neil Miles' splendid seasonal compilations a year after he does - well, we have to plan all this out in November - with a trip to a world where Yuletide felicitations come from Santa Land at Clays Garden Centre, the Leicestershire Coal Merchants Association and just the idea of shopping in Bangor. Harrods lies within range of Jones Wholesalers of Northampton, posting a card to people who live far away has to be recommended, Griff Rhys Jones very briefly promotes The Secret Policeman's Other Ball, the Houghton Weavers and Jeremy Beadle are the fulcrum of panto in Ashton-under-Lyme, Stylus make a play for the lapsed K-Tel/Ronco market and a Woolworths advert suggests it's the one place young people (including Louise Lombard) and parents alike can go to buy their prized Christmas gift of the Stooges' Raw Power. How is that Commodore 64 plugged in on a desert island, by the way? And once you've pondered that, go and catch up with previous volumes here, here, here, here and here.

BREAKING NEWS: wait, this year's archived additions are up already! Let's break the habit of a lifetime and catch up with licence fee gift tokens, the Avalon Sheepskin Shop and Bob Carolgees and Spit The Dog on the Christmas Line.
