Advent Calendar 2023 Day 17: Val Doonican's Christmas Party, 1985

We've featured Val rocking, but gently, in his suave unironic way for Christmas 1986 in the past, so let's move back a year in traditional late the night before the big day form, clockwork robins ident and all. Once he's done his late shopping to the tune of Silver Bells he introduces Janet Brown, who obviously sings a duet as Maggie, James Galway - who has to sit next to Val inactive like a lemon as he sings one of his own and then takes part in a flute/jaw harp battle - trad Irish outfit Stockton's Wing and a man after Doonican's own heart, Pat Boone.
